Arbeitshypothese(n)
Antisemitism was long marginalized and discredited even among authoritarian parties, groups, and movements in liberal democracies after 1945. Today, I argue that it has reentered the political sphere. In the 21st century, it is often politically mobilized by a variety of authoritarian actors across the political spectrum. The return of political antisemitism benefits from more favorable political-cultural opportunity structures, featuring new postfactual digital media ecosystems, democratic legitimacy crises, and global authoritarian wave.
