Arbeitshypothese(n) Our research groups investigates political violence. Starting with the observation that far right violence is unevenly distributed across space and time in Germany, we analyze the interplay between socio-structural conditions, processes within the movement and the dynamics of specific violent acts. Our focus lies on the social movement as well as on the perpetrators‘ position within the political field: We analyze how their respective position shapes their strategic considerations on whether to use violence or not. Thus, we are able to understand why different logics of action emerge out of the same ideology, depending on local context and social position.
